Intro to Juicing

Thank you for stopping by… allow me to introduce you to my biggest secret in overall health and happiness.

I’ve been juicing since 2012 and the benefits I have reaped are profound!  I really want to share this knowledge with everyone so that they can enjoy similar results.

Every time I talk to someone about beginning juicing, their first question is “Juicing… is that the same as blending!?”  The answer to this is “no.”  Juicing extracts all of the juicy nutrients and displaces the pulp into a throw away bin (but you can save the pulp for so many other things!)  As a result, you are left with a smooth, pulp free liquid that will not only hydrate you but deliver a high dosage of healthy vitamins and minerals directly to your whole body.

I have never fully committed to a juice fast (going days or even weeks living off of nothing but juice).  However, I am sure to incorporate juice into my diet, replacing one or two meals daily 3-5 times a week.  Everyday, I also try to eat a mostly plant based diet, ensuring that 50% or more of what I consume comes directly from plants.

The healthiest I ever was, I was juicing at least once a day and consuming about 80% plants.  I was gorgeously skinny, my skin was radiant and my energy levels were through the roof.  However, all of that paled in comparison to my overall attitude and happiness.  At the time, I was struggling with a very awful divorce and recovering from very terrible abuse, yet I dealt with everything without suffering from unbearable anxiety and depression.  I cannot preach enough how much consuming plants has helped my overall mental health, I hope you can find the same peace.

Currently, I am in the process of writing an eBook containing my favorite juice recipes!  I cannot wait to complete it and I will update this post with the link.  My plan is to publish through Kindle on Amazon unless something crazy happens.  Look for my eBook in the next week or less!

Below I will list my favorite juicing products.  The first is the Omega J8006 juicer, this is the juicer that I use daily.  It’s a slow masticating juicer which means it crushes the fruits and veggies, unlike Breville’s which shred them and create tons of waste.  The Omega can handle small leafy veggies with ease and even juice wheatgrass.  I have already talked 4 people into buying this juicer and all of them are completely in-love!  This opinion is my own, I am not sponsored by Omega in anyway.

If the price tag of the Omega J8006 scares you a bit, I’ll present another very affordable option for about $150 less than the Omega!  This juicer is the same concept!  Honestly, had I known about this at the time of my purchase, I would likely have snagged this one first.  My co-worker recently bought this with my suggestion and he loves it!

Ok, where are you going to put your juice?  For less than $20 these glass bottles are a steal!  The lids are amazing, you can flip these upside-down, lay them on their sides, the design of them is wonderful!  I cannot recommend these enough.

Of course, so you don’t spill all that liquid gold on your counter, grab a funnel while your at it.  This is frequently forgotten when people are thinking about getting that delicious juice into their cute bottles.  Below is the funnel I bought!

Ok, you have everything you need to get started.  Drink, be merry, enjoy life!

2018 | Time to Shine

Happy 2018 beautiful people!

I started to set some really impressive goals for myself before the start of this year and started acting on them rather early in order to ensure I live my life to the fullest this year.

In the past 3 years I’ve had so many ups & downs.  I’ve been through a nasty divorce but I’m motivated to still help and support my ex husband and ensure that he doesn’t have to work while going to school so he can watch our kids until I move them down here to the south where I’ll be able to care for them much better.  I’ll be documenting that painful journey because divorce is so prevalent in our culture and I don’t want anyone to have to make the same mistakes that my ex husband and I have.

Fortunately, I have a wonderful and supportive boyfriend who has really restored my hope in good people.  He continues to be a light in my life and I’m so happy to have him and look forward to making our own little family in the future.

I have a budding YouTube channel where I focus on gaming and shaping the minds of young kids who are drawn to my channel.  I realize I have a very important role to shape the minds of children who are drawn to my content and I promise to do that to the best of my ability while being nerdy and still upholding a healthy and happy lifestyle.

2018 is a year of possibilities, you really can write your own story.  That is my focus this year, two write the best story I can for myself and my family.  I encourage you all to do the same, the power is in your hands and your heart.

With love, Jamsey.

PS – Oona and Killian, you are the the light of my life and the brawn of my soul.  Everything I do is for you.  ♥

2016 -Self and Soul

2016 is only six whole days old, and it’s already been a whirlwind.

My life has been chaotic for years and years and I’m finally doing something about it.  However, the amount of pain to process and go through is just overwhelming sometimes.  To explain, as briefly as possible what I’m going through I’ll simply say this, divorce with two beautiful children.

I really cannot bear to dwell on everything going so poorly.  Simply, this is a time to be positive and look forward.  This has been a great period of reflection and growth and I’m making sure it’s done as healthily and as smoothly as possible.

Here’s what I’ll be doing to manage my stress during this sad time:

To ensure my health is at it’s best, I bought a brand-new juicer.  I bought the juicer I have been after for the past 4 years, the Omega 8006!  It’s absolutely brilliant and completely out-performs my old Breville.  I completely recommend it!  I bought it at Bed, Bath and Beyond and used a coupon for a very serious discount.  Drinking a minimum of one but generally 2-3 juices a day has had an amazing effect on my health (and so perfect, because everyone is on the New Year’s health-kick still).  My skin has completely cleared of acne.  I no longer suffer from horrible acid-re-flux (which I get from eating food that is too processed like breads and other processed meats and meals).  It’s been wonderful.

On-top of my juice kick I also eat as vegan as possible, which I have practiced for over a year now.  This also greatly reduces health issues that could potentially arise.  Furthermore, I haven’t consumed any alcohol since Friday, November 27th, 2015.  Making me completely alcohol free now for about 6 weeks.  My husband (ex-to-be) and I use to consume moderate amounts quite frequently and I always worried how this effected my overall health.

Aside from my healthiness, I’ve also tried to construct my mindfulness.  I have been devouring Mark Edmundson’s “Self and Soul,” as this blog is titled.  It’s a beautiful, philosophical and also historical piece that has just recently been published by Harvard Press.  I picked the book up on Amazon after a review of it caught my eye.  The book really dives into what makes up our ideals of human from historical literature such as The Iliad and also, the Bible.

Parenting, marriage, divorce, careers and general adult life can be so stressful.  Let’s all make 2016 a year where we can thrive regardless of whatever the circumstance.  I could cry and blog all day about everything wrong, but I cannot let that sadness win.  Let’s move forward, let’s carry each other and support one another like we are supposed to, just like we are taught as children.  Happy New Year, make it a good one.
